Jordan faces significant challenges related to water, energy, desertification, biodiversity, the environment and infrastructure development. To meet these and other challenges, scientific research and technical development will increasingly be needed.

On the other hand, dissemination of research to the public is typically weak. Most press reports on grand “innovations” and “discoveries” are fed to journalists to achieve notoriety for specific individuals, while the journalists themselves are not trained scientists who can evaluate incredible claims. Honest scientific developments are under appreciated and poorly presented to the public.

Because it would be presumptuous to imply that the writer of this blog is abreast of all scientific research and results in Jordan, contributions in the form of comments, links, and guest postings are welcome. Just drop me an e-line at nizar dot abujaber [at] gmail dot com.
